Enterprise Architecture and Digital Transformation

Helping organisations understand how their business capabilities, processes, information, applications and technology fit together, and how they must evolve.

Start with the Enterprise Architecture and Digital Readiness Preliminary Assessment

Why it matters

The problem this addresses

Systems arrive one decision at a time, each sensible on the day. Some years later the same information is held in four places, two systems do substantially the same job, and one integration nobody documented is holding up a process the organisation depends on.

Without a current-state view, every technology decision is made without knowing what it touches. That is what makes change expensive and unpredictable.

Scope

The assessment may examine

  • Alignment between strategy and technology investment
  • Business capabilities and critical processes
  • Application duplication and lifecycle risks
  • Data ownership, integration and information flows
  • Technology dependencies and technical debt
  • Architecture roles and decision-making structures
  • Current digital transformation initiatives
  • Artificial Intelligence and automation readiness
Key standards
Framework alignment is a statement of method, not a certification claim.
TOGAF
Architecture development, building blocks and the architecture repository.
ArchiMate
Modelling notation, for diagrams that non-specialists can read.
ISO/IEC/IEEE 42010
Architecture description.
COBIT 2019
For the governance that keeps a road map alive after it is written.

Assessment

Included in the Assessment

  • High-level current-state architecture view
  • Key capability, process and technology gaps
  • Priority application and technology risks
  • Transformation readiness summary
  • Executive findings presentation
  • Prioritised architecture and transformation roadmap
Price
Quoted on request. Each Preliminary Assessment is a paid, fixed-scope advisory engagement, confirmed before commencement based on the agreed scope, the number of stakeholders and the depth of evidence required.
Not an audit
Preliminary Assessments are advisory reviews. They are not certification audits, penetration tests, statutory audits, or formal legal and regulatory compliance opinions.

Implementation

Available as an Implementation Engagement

An assessment that ends at a report has done half the job. Building what it recommends is a separate engagement, scoped and quoted against what you need, and never bundled into the assessment.

Further advisory services

  • Business capability and process mapping
  • Current-state and future-state architecture
  • Application and technology portfolio assessments
  • Application rationalisation
  • Digital transformation strategies and roadmaps
  • Architecture governance frameworks
  • Architecture principles and standards
  • Technology lifecycle assessments
  • Data and information architecture governance
  • Solution architecture reviews
  • Artificial Intelligence and digital-readiness planning
How it is priced
Quoted on request. Fixed scope and fixed fee, agreed in writing before work begins. We do not work on an open-ended basis.
Independence
Assessment and implementation are separately scoped engagements, quoted and agreed in writing before either begins. Keeping them separate is deliberate. It is what allows the assessment to stay independent, and it means you are never presented with findings that happen to recommend more of our own work. Where we have implemented something, any later re-assessment of that work says so plainly.

Intended outcomes

  • A clearer understanding of the organisational environment
  • Improved alignment between business priorities and technology
  • Reduced duplication, fragmentation and complexity
  • Better-informed transformation and procurement decisions
  • Defined transition roadmaps
  • Stronger governance over architecture and technology change
